American
Society for Quality
The
American Society for Quality (ASQ) is an international society of
individuals and organizations dedicated to the ongoing development,
advancement, and promotion of quality concepts, principles,
and techniques. Formerly known as American Society for Quality Control
(ASQC), ASQ has been the leading quality improvement organization
in the United States since 1946 and has over 120,000 individual
and 1,100 Sustaining members. ASQ offers certifications, classes,
workshops, conferences, books, videos and promotional items, as well
as sponsoring activities such as Koality Kid, Registrar Accreditation
Board (RAB), American Customer Satisfaction Index (ACSI) and the Malcolm
Baldrige National Quality Award to name a few. One of 249 Sections
across the nation, Kansas City Section 1301 supports over 750
members. Our mission is "To cultivate the quality profession and be
a user-friendly resource for the KC community by: · Promoting the
use of quality principles, methods and technologies through information,
education and networking opportunities; · Enhancing the value of membership
by motivating participation in the local Section as well as
National; · Expanding quality awareness through the use of outreach
opportunities to the community. The Kansas City section sponsors regular
meetings, conferences and certification refresher classes and is involved
with the National programs listed above. In addition the section publishes
a monthly newsletter, maintains a website, offers a job placement
hotline, proctors certification exams and provides numerous networking
opportunities. We are actively involved in supporting both the Kansas
Award for Excellence and the Missouri Quality Award. For information

Society for Training and Development
The
American Society for Training and Development (ASTD) is the
world's premier professional association and leading resource on
workplace learning and performance issues. The Kansas City Chapter
(KC-ASTD), founded in 1947, has over 400 members working in multinational
organizations as well as small to medium sized companies in industries
representing a wide spectrum of the workforce. Our mission is to
promote excellence in field of human resource development. We encourage
active participation, learning, and the exchange of ideas to assist
members in career and leadership development, organization effectiveness
and profitability, performance improvement, and the advancement
of human resource development. Our chapter meetings are generally
held the 3rd Thursday of each month at various locations throughout
the metropolitan area. Meeting times will vary. In addition, informal,
fun networking events and innovative Special Interest Group (SIG)

Employment
Practices Network of Kansas City
The
Employment Practices Network (EPN) is
a special emphasis group for Human Resource professionals involved
in staffing and recruiting issues. EPN KS's goals include: · Add
value to the employment process through education, innovation and
the identification of technology advances and best practices in
the field · Provide a global forum for the better understanding
of employment issues · Advance employment as a profession · Encourage
professional involvement · Provide value through meaningful education
and the exchange of information. EPN KS has quarterly breakfast
meetings, usually March, June, September and December. Meetings
are held at the Ritz Charles in Southern Johnson County with a cost
of approximately $20. EPN KC does not have local membership but
strongly supports HRMA KC and HRMA JC. Attendance at meetings ranges
from 150 to 2500. Meeting sponsorships are available. EPN KC has
organized the EPNetwork, a database of 900+ Human Resource professionals.

Heartland
Organization Development Network
The
Heartland Organization Development Network (HODN)
is an association of midwest organization development practitioners
representing professional roles in private industry, non-profit
organizations, government agencies and consultants who engage in
private practice and/or teach. We are the regional network of two
international associations: The Organization Development Institute
(ODI) and The Organization Development Network (ODN). HODN shares
both a US perspective and a worldwide focus in our meetings and
discussion groups. For example, one of our founding Kansas City
members, Dr. Joel Finlay, RODC at Sprint, recently won ODI's prestigious
award for the "Outstanding O.D. Project of the Year for 1999" Heartland
OD membership provides access to a community of professional practitioners
who share professional and career interests. In addition to these

The
Society for Human Resource Management - Johnson
County
The
Human Resource Management Association of Johnson County (HRMAJC)
is a non-profit organization dedicated to the advancement of human
resource management. The Association began in 1979 with a group
of HR professionals who felt recruiting and staffing needs were
unique in Johnson County. From its original 25 members, HRMAJC has
grown into a dynamic organization of more than 300 members representing
over 200 companies. Membership includes practitioners at all levels
in both large corporations and small companies, HR consultants and
educators. Most of the companies represented are located in the
Johnson County area, although the geographic boundaries were eliminated
in 1995. Meetings are generally held on the third Thursday of each
month from 11:30 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. with featured guest speakers.
HRMAJC has three types of memberships: PROFESSIONAL MEMBER-Individuals
professionally engaged in human resources management or education
shall be eligible for professional membership of the Association
subject to the approval of the Director of Membership and the payment
of prescribed dues. Generally speaking, this class excludes full
time consultants, administrative management personnel and sales/marketing
representatives from employment/temporary agencies. If the product
or service of an organization serves the human resources industry,
a professional member must be an owner or a member of general management
and spend at least 50 percent of his/her time in human resources
duties. Professional members in good standing shall retain all voting
privileges and be eligible to hold office in the Association. STUDENT
MEMBER-Any member of a SHRM Student Chapter is eligible. Full-time
students with an emphasis in Human Resources at an accredited college
without a SHRM Student Chapter are also eligible. NATIONAL SHRM
MEMBER-Individuals who do not qualify as a Professional or Student
member may qualify if they are members of the Society for Human
Resources Management and designate HRMAJC as their primary chapter
for SHRM coding purposes.

The
Society for Human Resource Management - Kansas City
The
Human Resource Management Association of Greater Kansas City (HRMA)
was organized in 1953 to promote quality professional, social, and
educational services to its members, and to contribute to increasing
the visibility of the HR function within the business community.
HRMA serves human resource professionals by providing publications,
discussion and study groups, seminars, and quality speakers at its
monthly meetings. HRMA has over 750 members representing a full
range of employers in the Kansas City metropolitan area. Membership
is open to persons who are professionally engaged in human resource
management within the business, government, or academic community.
It is one of the oldest and largest chapters of the national Society
for Human Resource Management (SHRM). With over 140,000 members,
SHRM is the world's largest professional association devoted exclusively

International
Association of Career Management Professionals
The
International Association of Career Management Professional (IACMP)
was named
in 1994, having been established as an association in 1989 under
a prior name, and is dedicated to promoting professionalism in the
Career Management field. The intent of the Kansas City Chapter is
to function as a professional development resource to corporations,
professional services firms, individual practitioners, academia,
government and other associations, and to promote public understanding
of the profession. Professional skill development takes place not
only through informal exchange of ideas, but through scheduled programs
that support the desired competencies [consulting with corporate/organizational
clients, consulting with candidates individually and on a group
basis, assessment, job search training, and career consulting] and
stated ethical values of the organization's members. IACMP members
may receive credit toward Practitioner and Fellow Certification
through the International Board of Career Management Certification
(IBCMC) by attending association meetings and other educational
conferences and events. General membership meetings are currently
held the 3rd Monday of the month from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M. For additional

The
International Society for Performance Improvement -Kansas City Chapter
(ISPI) is committed to improving human performance
by advancing the art and science of performance and instructional
technologies. We are also dedicated to bringing new knowledge and
ideas to the performance arena. This is accomplished by providing
our membership with professional development activities and contacts
that promote the application of methods that improve business, industry,

Speakers Association of Kansas City
The
National Speakers Association-Kansas City Chapter (NSA-KCC) The
National Speakers Association (NSA) is the recognized voice of the
speaking profession, setting the benchmark for platform excellence
worldwide, impacting how people work and live. The Kansas City chapter,
established in 1986, is an association of professional speakers
at all levels in their career, dedicated to enhancing education
and professional growth to ensure the standard of excellence in
professional speaking. NSA-KCC sponsors workshops on the 2nd Saturday
of odd numbered months from 8:15am-3pm, at the Center for Management
Assistance, 600 Broadway, Kansas City, Missouri. Each seminar features
a nationally recognized speaker presenting a topic of interest to
speakers (platform skills, marketing, publishing and product development,
platform mechanics, etc.) Workshops also offer an opportunity for

and social event is held on the 1st Wednesday of each even numbered
months. NSA-KCC also hosts special events. The Celebrity Series
